Officer-Involved Shooting in Jacksonville's Oceanway Area
Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) Sheriff T.K. Waters and Chief Alan Parker shared details about an officer-involved shooting. This happened on Ponce Boulevard off New Berlin Road around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025.
District 6 Task Force officers were looking for a suspect involved in a stolen car case and several business burglaries. Officers saw the suspect get into the passenger side of a car. The driver did not comply, and the driver and the officer began fighting. At one point during the fight, the driver pulled out a gun. The officer shot the driver in the head.
The driver has not been identified yet. He did not survive.
