Officer Shinholser, a motorcycle officer, was fatally injured on his way to work. A Ford truck turned into Officer Shinholser’s path and he was thrown from his motorcycle.
At the time of his death, Officer Shinholser was campaigning to raise money for a national memorial for officers killed in the line of duty. Officer Shinholser recorded a song to jump start his campaign.
Officer Shinholser had served with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office for over 11 years. He was survived by his wife, two children and brother who is also a Jacksonville Police Officer.
