Officer Parker observed a parked vehicle and pulled up behind it and exited his vehicle.  He was checking on what he thought was an abandoned vehicle when the suspect jumped out and opened fire on him, striking him three times.

There were two females in the car with him that were being held hostage.  The suspect had abducted them approximately thirty minutes prior to Officer Parker’s arrival.  The women were abducted from 5500 Soutel Drive.  The suspect had already raped the woman in the front seat and was attempting to rape the second woman when Officer Parker pulled up behind them.

The suspect then stole an undetermined amount of money from Officer Parker's wallet, stole his service weapon, stole sixteen dollars from the two women and fled the scene. He was eventually apprehended and sentenced to life in prison.

Officer Parker had served with the agency for 9 years. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
