At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, Police Office Lance C. Whitaker was responding to a traffic crash near I-295 and Alta Drive in his marked patrol unit when he was involved in a single-vehicle traffic crash. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
